About Me
Verminous Folk is what you get with up and coming talent Bag of Rats who hail from Somerset & Dorset. Their amazing and ebulient sound is a rich brew of Traditional English, Blues, Irish, Jazz, Country, a smidgeon of ska, a hint of the alternative and a peppering of psychedelic skiffle. Bag of Rats have recently added a fifith member to the band, Ian Oliver (OLLY), who plays the double bass with amazing tenacity. Alongside him are Mike Hall(Guitar/Mandola/Vocal/Songwriter), John Archer(Percussion/Flute/Harmonica), Simon Hester (Violin) and Mary Gilmour(Melodeon). Bag of Rats have been receieved with raptuous applause over the years entertaing the crowds with their unique and quirky style supporting the likes of Hayseed Dixie, 3 Daft Monkeys and Hobo Jones& The Junkyard Dogs. They have played at numerous festivals including Priddy Folk Festival, Glastonbury 2007 and Burnham-on-SeaFolk Fest to name but a few and have had a triumphant return to the venues that have seen them over the last five years with many new bookings in the pipeline. They always prove popular with the audiences they entertain and are continuing to do so. The fabulous debut CD 'Abbey Rodent' has eight scrummy examples of the Rat sound; this is available at gigs or online on their website. The next album is currently being worked on and will be finished by the end of February 2011; working with record producer Simon Squire. You can listen to Bag of Rats and find out where they are playing on bagofrats.co.uk, MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and Lemonrock. Hi Mary Rat!
So nice of you to join us. Send in details of anything you'd like listed via THE GIG - mainly Southwest but I'm happy to list things outside the area if you want me to. As a member I'll list Bag O 'Rats on THE FRONT PAGE too. Viv |
