NEW MUSICIANS, NEW MUSIC, NEW GENRES!

The new 'Add your own Event' feature available on THE GIG from the beginning of May has brought new members from 'all walks' of musical life to the website.

Thanks to all those of you who added your events last month and took the trouble to work out how to use the editing tools. The process is quite simple to repeat when you've done it once!

A bit of advice?

Visitors to THE GIG won't be very excited to click on your event in the calendar and find that all they get is some very small print and an unlinked website address.

PLEASE make good use of the Events Page you create (it's as long as you make it). Enlarge and centre the text / images you add and, for your own sake, add your My Space / website address: Highlight your performer name/ venue name and  click the 'Link' icon in the toolbar to add the web address.

THE GIG now has 85 members
and sends out updates via email to over 1000 subscibers two or three times a month.

Here's a list of Members who added upcoming Event Listings and Pages to 'What's On Where' in May.

In no particular order:          Dyer:Cumming's, Rosie May, Hailing Star, The Laundry Room, The Fuel, Peachy Jane,
The David Hall (South Petherton),
Amy Wilson, The Troubadours, Zoltar Speaks, Two Minute Hour, Shas311,
Without Reason, The Joe Public,  My Chloroform, Random Vandals, Ophiucus,
Psycho Baby, KTMR (Keep the music real), Play The Field (Charles Hazlewood Festival)

Many thanks to all of you!

THE GIG - 'New Musicians. New Music. Somerset the Southwest and Beyond!' will only survive if you want it.

THE LEHLAKE MUSIC PROJECT now teaches about 150 children and older students to learn classical and electric guitar, keyboard and drums in this remote part of South Africa.
The students have written a song entitled Yeovil in appreciation of the people of Yeovil and the help they are receiving from Music for Africa and with a bit of help from Tom Toomey and Dave Wallace have recorded it.

The sound control and of/off switch is at the very bottom of this screen.
